Creig Flessel – The Sparky Award
July 22, 2008, filed under: Studio, by LexThere was some sad news this weekend, golden-age cartoonist Creig Flessel passed away at 96. There are many people who knew him and what he did far better than I do (Tom Spurgeon and Mark Evanier both have good write-ups), but I can add something to the mix. I recorded the Sparky Awards last year when Creig was honored and have posted the event below. Andrew Farago of the Cartoon Art Museum interviewed Creig–it’s a lively discussion with a spry and charming cartoonist! (Stay through to the end, Creig caps it with a good joke). Approx. 35 minutes
