Skansen

September 25, 2009, filed under: Kid B., by Lex

Skansen is an open-air museum nestled in Stockholm that recreates different eras and cultures from Sweden’s past. This was one of the first places we went on our trip and after drawing these vistas and buildings in Kid Beowulf it was great to see them in the flesh and realize that even though I’d never visited Geatland until now, I wasn’t too far off. Here are some comparison shots of panels and photos…

Grendel Sculpt

August 6, 2009, filed under: Kid B., by Lex

Some of you may remember the sculpts I’ve had done of Beowulf and Hama, well now comes the third and final sculpt in the Kid Beowulf trifecta: Grendel! Masterfully sculpted by Pam Drucker, Grendel stands approximately 7″ tall and holds a rock (which is removable) and is ready for action. Here’s a quick turnaround video for your viewing pleasure:

The sculpt still needs to be molded and cast, but like the others it will be available in two versions: fully painted and a bronzed edition. At the moment, all the sculpts are painted by yours truly, but I’m on the hunt for a skilled sculpt painter, so drop me a line if you’re interested. Here is the model sheet Pam used to sculpt Grendel (click for larger view):

And because Beowulf, Grendel and Hama adventure together, a platform base has also been made that will nicely house all three sculptures. This will also be fully painted to match the other sculpts. You know what they say: collect ‘em all!

I have not yet set a release date for Grendel, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted on that.  In the meantime, both Beowulf and Hama are available and can be purchased right here. So what are you waiting for?!

Kid B Sculpt: Update

May 14, 2008, filed under: Kid B., by Lex

Here are some updated turnaround shots of the Kid B. sculpt (sculpted by Pam Drucker). I’m just blown away at how perfect he looks! The next stage will be to make a mold and cast the first piece, which Pam will touch up before the final mold is made. I’m planning to have several limited edition sculpts for Comicon.KidB_Sculpt3

First Look: Kid Beowulf Sculpt

April 12, 2008, filed under: Kid B., by Lex

Last year about this time work began on the Hama Sculpt, after many weeks of sculpting and tweaking, molding and casting, I was rewarded with a terrific looking sculpt of Hama (which you can order right here in the shop!). Now it’s Beowulf’s turn and sculptor Pam Drucker is well on her way to crafting another gem. This is her first pass and already it’s coming together nicely. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on its progress.KidB_Sculpt1
